During the last thirty years Simon has spent considerable time with both film and digital cameras pacing the streets at home and abroad. His fascination with street portraits, especially faces lost in thought or focusing on the moment in hand, has always been the essence of Simon’s modus operandi.

His work encapsulates his visual fascination with the urban landscape – abandoned and overgrown spaces, derelict buildings, neglected architecture in bleak environments, with nature reclaiming ownership. Since relocating to Skye this has extended to abandoned croft buildings, farm machinery, byres and steddings located in and around the Highlands.

Simon’s sharp eye witnesses the ephemeral moment where light, form, tone and texture meld with the chaos and abandonment of the scarred landscape and his speedy reactions ensure it is captured on film for perpetuity.
