On completing his first degree in photography, Simon worked in a fashion and advertising studio in the west-end of London. His client base included Garuda Indonesian Airways, John Smith's Bitter, Harrods, Selfridges and he produced point-of-sale advertising images for a wide ranging small businesses.
His position demanded a wide range of skills from interpreting artistic briefs to building studio sets; from directing models to shooting test Polaroids and producing large format film transparencies, all within very-tight time scales.
Simon continued to pursue his passion for still-life during his Masters Degree in photography at Nottingham & Trent University, where he shot large-format post-modern parodies for his dissertation: Post-modern objectivity: Pushing the Boundaries of the Neue Sachlichkeit, American Realism and the European Fotoform.
He now operates a fully-equipped studio comprising a range of backdrops and four-head studio-flash lighting. The images in this section represent work produced in London, Nottingham, Wolverhampton with more recent output produced in his studio here on the Isle of Skye.
